Mary-Kate Gilbertson is part of the group creating Anwaatin. She is a passionate, entrepreneur and community builder whose work is related to climate change action and the transition to low carbon living. She is committed to creating sustainable, workable and empowered neighbourhoods. She believes in the power of business to create change in the world and is involved with a diverse collection of social action companies.
We fund our work through the sale of voluntary carbon offsets sold to organizations who have measured their carbon footprint, reduced it as much as possible and purchased offsets for the remaining portion.
Anwaatin is an indigenous B Corp business working alongside indigenous stewards to ensure they are front and center in fighting climate change and are the beneficiaries of opportunities that arise through climate change action. This is the intersection between environmental action and social justice. Anwaatin provides technical support to ensure indigenous communities are able to participate in opportunities emerging as a result of the new carbon market and are on the leading edge of emerging markets associated with solutions and activities that can alleviate energy poverty. At Anwaatin we believe that fighting climate change and revitalizing treaty relationships are two paths coming together.
